Happy Groundhog Day - Wednsday, February 2, 2011

Thanks to Chritel Young Bonner @ One Scrappin Sista I was inspired to make this little Happy Groundhog Day Card on of my husband's students. He loves Groundhog Day and even tapes the predictions.

In side of card

Phil Says Expect an Early Spring!
Phil's official forecast as read February 2nd, 2011, at sunrise at Gobbler's Knob in Punxsutawney, PA:

Here Ye, Hear Ye, Hear Ye
Groundhog Day, February 2, 2011
Punxsutawney Phil was raised from his burrow
By the call of President Bill Deeley.
He greeted his handlers, Ben Hughes and John Griffiths.
After casting an inquisitive eye towards thousands of his faithful followers,
He proclaimed that the Steelers are going to the Super Bowl!
Back to the business at hand...
He surveyed his surroundings carefully and found that there was no shadow around,
So, an early spring it will be.

Monarch Butterfly

I have alway loved Monarch Butterflies and the story of "The Butterfly's Beauty is the Result of Struggle," so I decided to make a card with a Monarch Butterfly on it and The Butterfly's Beauty is the Result of Struggle in the card.

The Butterfly's Beauty is the Result of Struggle

.
One day, as a young woman sat in her garden, she noticed a cocoon hanging from a nearby branch.
Before long, a small opening appeared in the cocoon. The woman watched for several hours as the butterfly within struggled to free itself from the envelope in which it had recently been transformed.

Then, it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could not go any further.
So the woman decided to help the butterfly: she took a pair of scissors and cut open the cocoon, from which the butterfly then emerged easily.
But, to the woman's surprise, the butterfly didn't fly away. Instead it crawled out onto the branch and sat there. As the woman looked more closely, she noticed the butterfly's body was withered, its wings were tiny and shriveled.
The woman continued to watch because she expected that, at any moment, the wings would open, enlarge and expand sufficiently to support the butterfly’s body.
Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a withered body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly...
What the woman, in her kindness and her goodwill did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening, were God’s way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings, so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life.
If God allowed us to go through our life without any obstacles, it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as we could be. Never been able to fly.

I asked for Strength ……. And God gave me difficulties to make me strong.
I asked for Wisdom…….. And God gave me problems to solve.
I asked for Prosperity…… And God gave me a brain and brawn to work.
I asked for Courage…….. And God gave me obstacles to overcome.
I asked for Love ……….. And God gave me troubled people to help.
I asked for Favors…….. And God gave me opportunities.

“I received nothing that I wanted….. But everything that I needed.”

Live life without fear, confront all obstacles and know you can overcome them.

THe Cross

This is a project that I did for my grandmother.

It was pretty easy. I cut the cross and shadow from Indie  Art at 7"
I glued to pieces of ribbon on both sides of pattern paper, then draped it over the cross. After draping the ribbon and pattern paper, I glue the cross to its shadow.

I typed the word on card stock and spaced them enough so that the cross could be placed in the middle.
My grandmother is going to frame and place on a wall at church.
Click on the water to feed the fish.
